A member asked:

Hi i am taking metamucil and have noticed white string like things in my stool. can this be from the fiber? i'm a def hypochondriac and have diagnosed myself with worms please help.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: Metamucil's main ingredient is psyllium husk, a natural plant fiber that is a source of soluble and insoluble fiber. The soluble fiber creates a viscous gel as it travels through the GI tract. The insoluble fiber moves through intact. So hopefully the white worms are just husk remnants. If not go see your Doctor for stool cultures Ova and parasites x 3.
