A member asked:

What are effective treatments for suspected iron deficiency?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Iron supplements: Anemia should have a confirmed cause, so "suspected" is not good enough. A low serum iron level associated with heavy periods may be the cause, but there are also other causes of anemia and your doctor can confirm the cause. Dietary sources of iron are excellent (more red meat) but iron supplements available over the counter may also help.
