No/when symptomatic: Not all infections are transmissible directly from one person to another. The bacteria reside in the stomach of people so afflicted. So, no, you can't catch H.Pylori in the way you describe. H. Pylori can live in the stomach without symptoms. If you get symptoms of abdominal pain, stomach pain, acid indigestion, dark stools or other symptoms, that would be the time to get tested.
