Pros & cons: Yes if jewish, muslim father is circumcised & happy that he is or both parents want it. Or if will live in hiv/aids endemic areas eg africa. Reduces risk of utis in first 6-months of life, altough they are rare. Worth it if boy has hydronephrosis, bladder reflux, urethral valves, mentally challenged or won't wash -> increased risk of uti. Otherwise it ia a cosmetic procedure & not necessary.

Personal decision: I trained and work in settings where circumcision is the norm, I have seen variable outcome of both choises.Infants without can get utis often before a month of age, circ'd kids do not. It was the most requested elective surgery among sailers during my service years.I have done in excess of a thousand without problems. But to me it is work, and the decision is usually made before i meet the parents.
