Esophageal cancer: Adenocarcinoma of the esophagus is a serious and increasingly common cancer. Early forms are treated by local excision, but once it invades muscle or involves distant structures, the challenge is greater. Some clinical trials are available which might prolong life for your loved one beyond 6-12 months. Search for an NCI cancer center or academic oncology center which has access to these.
