Is diane an anticonceptive? i googled it but only found diane-35, is it the same?

Yes: Diane is a combined hormonal contraceptive. The 35 just refers to the dosage of ethinyl estradiol in the pill. We once used this to differentiate between pills made by the same company with different levels of estrogen, i.e. OrthoNovum 1+35 and OrthoNovum 1+50.
