Metallic smell: May be infection/sinusitis/ mucosal breakdown w/ mild blood in rhinitis/ allergies( iron in blood is a metal and has a metallic smell) or gastric irritation/ reflux ( called laryngeal reflux) irritating the mucosa with mild bleeding etc. Elevate head of bed, antihistamines vasoline at tip of nose to moisturize when runny nose, rantidine/ prevecid for reflux( if no allergies) F/U w/doc
