Why might it be that there is no cure for the common cold?

NO CURE: Cold is caused by a virus and the body's natural immune system will that care of it. There is no medicine that can prevent or cure a cold at this time because the virus keeps changing the outer protein coating. By the time you develop a treatment, the virus will be mutating and you have to start again. (trying to hit a moving target).

Cold: There are over a 100 viruses that cause the common cold. Viruses can mutate. Severity of common cold symptoms are usually not extreme and the disease is usually self- limiting. These are reasons why it wouldn't be a high priority to look for this cure.
