No, it is a fungus: Ringworm is actually not a worm but a fungal infection. It usually responds to over the counter anti fungal creams like clotrimazole applied three times daily until rash resolves. The fungus can be contagious through direct contact so keep the area covered. It may take a few weeks for the rash to resolve.
