A member asked:

How effective is tracheal intubation for treating cardiac arrest?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It is part of ACLS: securing airway with the breathing tube is the recognized part of the Advanced Cardiac Life Support algorithm, i.e. it is very effective. However, cardiac arrest per se in adults often happens due to abnormal electrical activity in the heart and that is why defibrillators, whether in the healthcare facilities or for public use, are recommended to be used first.
