How effective is rivastigmine (exelon) for treating alzheimer's disease?

Modest benefit: Probably best tolerated in patch form. Is anti cholinesterase, class, and seems to have some behavioral and cognitive use, but does not cure or reverse Alzheimer's , and has best benefits when used in combination with Namenda (memantine).

Same as others . . .: Rivastigmine is probably as effective as galantamine (galantamine hydrobromide) & donepezil in treating Alzheimer's disease, which is to say, not very. While their FDA approvals required demonstrating better test scores, studies were contradictory as to clinical benefit. Best we can hope w/acetylcholinesterase inhibitor class is to slow down disease progression but there is no cure yet. Perhaps better if used w/memantine.
