It depends: While not perfect, it provides an opportunity for your provider to assess whether you've consumed much alcohol in the past two weeks or so. Depending on lab cutoffs and the concentration of the urine the doctor can have a good guess whether you might be using more alcohol than is good for you. Alcohol related health issues are quite common. I find this test underutilized.
