NO: This drug is known to be carcinogenic and is banned in US since 1991. In most children diarrhea is viral in etiology and in cases of bacterial diarrhea many are self limited and the only concern is dehydration. This is an antibiotic and should be used cautiously, and not in children less that 5 y/o.
