Controlled asthma: If you require rescue medication (albuterol) more than once or twice a month for breakthrough wheezing, it would be wise to let your doctor know. Otherwise ( in most cases) routine use of preventative Rx (inhaled steroids and pre-exercise albuterol) as prescribed are usually safer long term than uncontrolled asthma. Regimens should be reviewed frequently to minimize medication dose and frequency
