Allergy v Intolerant: There are many different reactions to foods including true allergic reactions, food intolerance, or immune-mediated inflammation to gluten in people with celiac disease. If you were allergic, food ingestion would cause symptoms including hives, itching, swelling, breathing trouble, throat tightness, etc. Bloating, cramps, GI discomfort, diarrhea with food ingestion usually related to intolerance

Dr. John Chiu answered

See doctor: If bloating is the only issue, it is unlikely to be from an allergic reaction. Air swallowing from anxiety or slow bowel motility may be the cause. Talk to your doctor about this. In the meanwhile, avoid gas-production foods such as cabbage, pepper, soda pop etc. May also try Gas X.
