They don't: Many causes for bleeding during pregnancy, but all are abnormal, and require investigation. One not too worrisome cause of light bleeding in early pregnancy is termed "implantation bleeding"--a small amount of bleeding that occurs when the embryo implants in the uterus that occurs around the time of an expected period. See your doctor.
