Antibiotics first: treat with a short course of antibiotics, then plan to avoid further infections by drinking plenty of water, couple shots of prune juice a day- to prevent constipation and to have regular BM, may add cranberry pill/ vit C combo

UTI TX: If you have symptoms and the culture is positive you need antibiotics. The sensitivity will tell you which one. MACROBID/CIPRO. Stay well hydrated and lots of cranberry juice. Follow up with your doctor if symptoms persist or worsen

Not really: If you had a urine culture that confirmed E coli as the cause you should use antibiotics. That bug is one of the most common causes of UTI and it usually comes from the Gastrointestinal tract where several species reside. Some are more dangerous than others. If left untreated it could progress up urinary tract to the kidney which is more serious. Use probiotics with ABX to protect gut flora.
