YES.: Phenteamine (Adipex-P) is FDA approved only for short term use (12 weeks.) It's effective only along with a sustained healthy, low calorie diet and increased physical activity. It must be accompanied by a complete physical exam, blood pressure & BMI measurements and appropriate diagnostic tests. Any doctor who doesn't address these issues should NOT be prescribing phentermine!

New medications : there are many new medications on the market that have been approved for weight loss. However not all physicians are comfortable prescribing Them. You may want to look them up and address it with your primary care doctor.
