GERD: There are two types of acid reflux: 1) Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is when acid refluxes from the stomach to the esophagus. Symptoms include heartburn, chest bloating, and regurgitation 2) Laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) is when acid refluxes from the esophagus to the throat. Symptoms include cough, throat fullness, voice change, and feeling like you have to gulp twice to swallow.
