Define 'ignore': This is an important question. It depends on what you mean by 'ignore'. I'd prefer the word 'accept'. Once you really accept the past, you are in a position to love her in the present and to agree (if she does too) that you both want the present to include loyalty and respect. Change is possible, but not easy. Just do your mutual best!
