Only once: A person can only get mumps once. One of the two diagnoses was inaccurate (or possibly both). Periauricular lymphadenopathy (swollen lymph nodes around the ear) may represent a reaction to potential infection ("reactive lymph nodes") and is good - nature working for your benefit.
