It's possible: HSV can occur anywhere on the skin and in the oral cavity. While it's possible for HSV to cause a blister in the armpit(axilla) it is less common. Tissue from scrapings of the lesion can be tested for HSV by immunofluorescense staining or PCR DNA testing.
