I am a nurse so bear with me, i sometimes can hear my pulse and a swishing sound in my ears, i am assuming it's my carotids. is this normal?

Sound in ears: what you describe is a very common complaint. My concern thoug is to be sure your blood pressure has been checked .

Pulse: it isn't necessary abnormal. Get an ekg for starters. doubtful carotids will make you feel like this.
