Yes: There can be non-malignant nevi that are larger than 6 mm.

Yes: Just because a mole is above a certain size or a certain color doesn't mean necessarily rule in or rule out melanoma. However, if you are worried and not comfortable 'just watching' it you can likely request a biopsy or for a little more reassurance. Good luck!
