Exposure therapy is: gradual & guided by a therapist. First you learn how to recognize & " grade" your level of anxiety on a scale of 1-10 in the therapist's office. Then, also in the office, you learn self-calming techniques. Then you begin to deal with small groups of people. Anti-anxiety medications may be used as an adjunct to therapy, but you still need to learn to manage your anxiety disorder.
