Cannot say in: your particular case. Mostly there are several problems here: alcohol interacts with sedatives including xanax (alprazolam). Taking a drug or alcohol to "feel normal" is a sign of drug dependency. you might benefit from looking at http://www.nerdpocalypse.net/addiction.html and the podcast at https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/epiphany-of-the-week/id972173760

Not SAFE!: “Using ALPRAZolam together with ethanol can increase nervous system side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience impairment in thinking and judgment.” per Drugs.com. See: http://www.drugs.com/food-interactions/alprazolam,xanax.html

Depends: If you have had just a drink or two it's ok to take the Xanax (alprazolam) when truly necessary. If you have drunk yourself to near stupor, I would advise against taking anything which would add to the sedation.
