Or cancer?: if this happened often he must get a colonoscopy. We always hope it is internal hemorrhoids but must rule out cancer. If colonoscopy ok then hemorrhoids can be treated. Fissures usually very painful.

Go to hospital: If you have not taken your husband to see a doctor by now, it would be prudent to go a hospital emergency room. Passing blood clots represents serious bleeding and cannot be blamed on hemorrhoids or fissure.
