A member asked:

Can acid reflux damage or destroy your uvula?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Reflux can however damage your vocal cords resulting in a hoarse voice, and even cause pneumonia, worsen asthma symptoms, or cause a chronic cough. Typical symptoms include heartburn and regurgitation. If your worried about reflux, see your primary care doctor for a more complete evaluation, and ask about a GI consultation. Hope this helps!
