A member asked:

Can wearing eyeglasses have a long-term effect on your eyesight?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: This is a common "old wives tale" that wearing glasses will somehow cause permanent changes in the eyes. This is not true; the utility of wearing eyeglasses is simply to see better but there will be no changes in your basic eye power that would not have occurred anyway whether you are wearing glasses or not.
