Lower right back pain. started today. no blood in urine, no changes in bladder or bowels. doesn't seem to be muscle soreness. what could cause it?

Joint pain: You may have joint pain instead of muscle soreness. If it does not resolve with over the counter aleve (naproxen) see your doctor and get it checked. She will screen you for kidney problems, sacroiliac inflammation, injury, muscle discomfort and even multiple myeloma. Hope you feel better soon.

Classic: This is the first thing I would think of if you came in to my office. If you have none of the things you mentioned in your note then I would watch the amount of activity that you do and the activity. Try being careful and waiting a couple fo days . Many times this gets better by itself.
