Re think : It is possible that you may have had something else in the soup that may have caused the itching. It may have other things that you may have had in that day. Just because you had itching doesn't mean that you have allergies. I would recommend you keep diary of all the things that you may have come in contact on the day you have another spell in the future which may help determine the culprit

React to celery?: You didn't mention if you reacted to celery by itself. If the itching is confined to the oral cavity area, this is called oral allergy syndrome. If it induces itching all over the body, it is a systemic allergic reaction. Cooking often renders food less allergenic but the converse may rarely be true. See allergist re. food allergies & your abdominal symptoms.
