Varies: There are several possibilities, usually it would be either related to the original knee condition for which you got the shot or that you had some type of complication or reaction to the shot itself. I would certainly let your surgeon know.

Postinjection flare: This could represent postinjection flare, a recognized complication of musculoskektal steroid injections. It can begin several hours after the injection and last for days. Anti-inflammatory medication and ice may help. While more serious complications such as infection can present similarly, infection does not start to cause pain until about 48 hours after. It is best to inform your doctor.
