Could be normal: Your period could be starting if your cycle is 28 days in length this would be time for a period to start. I am guessing the pain is what is unusual for you and more history and an exam exam would be necessary to say what was going on there. If you have just stopped birth control pills, patches, etc. it could be that these were decreasing the cramping and the worsening is a return to your normal.
