New normal?: I don't know why your cyclical hormones have changed, but that change is the likely cause of your shorter cycle. If you ovulate earlier than you used to, then you will most likely have an earlier period as well. Stress, fatigue and ovarian aging can affect hormone cycles but we don't know exactly why. If your periods are heavy, painful etc., or just worrisome, check this out with your gyno.

May be normal: The range of normal for the length of the menstrual cycle is from 21 to 36 days from the start of one period to the start of the next. If yours fall within that range then you are probably having cycles that are normal for you.
