Good calories: you need to increase your caloric intake to gain weight, but it needs to be good calories. Not empty calories. Whole milk has a fair amount of saturated fat which is not good for you. Look for whole-grain breads and pastas, unsaturated fats in things like nuts and avocados which pack a fair amount of calories. Weight training exercise is helpful to turn extra calories and protein into muscle.
