A member asked:

I recently noticed light brown spots on the back of my neck. there are about 9 of them and they look like birth marks. what could they possibly be?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Tinea: Tinea versicolor usually occurs in teens, it is a fungal infection of the skin, commonly occurs on neck, back and chest. There are different treatment options including oral medication, but the first line should be 2.5% selenium sulfide shampoo/lotion. Of course see your PMD for definitive diagnosis and treatment.
