A member asked:

I have plenty of saliva, my mouth is not dry, but my saliva is not slippery anymore, just watery, what could it be?

Ageing: It may be a change as the body ages and the hormones change. The salivary glands produce serous (thin, watery) and mucous (thicker, ropy) saliva. Some are predominately one or the other and some are mixed. What can occur over time is that their secretion slows down. You have the best as it is thin and washes things away and dilutes things. One more change with age :). Not to worry.

GERD: If your mouth all of a sudden starts producing extra non viscous saliva, it could be water brash, which is highly suggestive of acid reflux (GERD). The visit to your PCP is warranted.
