A member asked:

How can you get immediate help with an outbreak you are unsure is a fever blister or imepetigo when the doctor you've been going to is gone for a week?

Oral herpes Rx: Call the office; probably a colleague is covering. Or visit an urgent care clinic. If you have had recurrent oral herpes ("fever blister", "cold sore") and this outbreak is similar probably that's it, not impetigo. Recurrent herpes must be treated within 2 days or it won't help. Start taking acyclovir or valacyclovir if it's on hand; it won't hurt anything even if the sore isn't herpes. Good luck!
