Hospital...: Migraine duration of longer than 4 or 5 days is called Status Migrainosus and requires aggressive specialized attention in the ED or hospital because it can increase your risk for stroke. I have had success using IV MgS04 (magnesium) in these settings, but typically IV Dihydroergotamine is used. In any case, given your multiple ER visits, hospitalization may be necessary--with a Neuro consult.
