A member asked:

Why are ligaments able to stretch so much?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Ligaments do not really stretch that much . They typically are just a specific length with very little stretching capabililty. However, prior to childbirth, the hormone relaxin present in the body at that time allows the ligaments of the pelvic area to stretch and this is beneficial for birthing a child.
