Rest: The most reliable way to heal a stress fracture is to rest the affected area. Sometimes, this is coupled with immobilization with a splint or cast. The timing of it depends on the fracture site, pattern, medical co-morbidities, smoking history and other factors. Best to have an xray and follow your orthopedist's treatment plan.
