Why is health considered to be a political issue?

13 doctors weighed in across 2 answers

Money and taxes: All issues that involve money and taxation are in many ways political. A few involve the domination of women under the term 'women's health issues' which includes aspects of pregnancy , birth control and abortion. These issues and money issues enter health into the political arena.

Follow the money: Political and legal decisions determine what money is spent on. This can be for direct health care, what insurance covers, and research. Natural and psychological support can be very helpful but there is less funding there. Stick to your own values when making life choices. Hard to do when politics and power have such influence but it helps. Peace and good health.
