Clarithromycin: Drink fluids. "You may take clarithromycin with meals or milk or on an empty stomach. However, clarithromycin extended release tablets should be taken with food." (http://www.drugs.com/cons/clarithromycin.html)

Why wait?: There no reason to wait. The only reason to avoid alcohol would be if the biaxin (clarithromycin) were upsetting your stomach.
