A member asked:

How do tumors develop from being benign to malignant?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Additional oncogenes: Many tumors begin as benign, eventually transforming to malignancy. Small lipomas as they grow develop additional oncogene mutations to become liposarcomas. Adenomatous polyps that are benign can have Cmyc and p53 nutations leading to malignant polyps. Additionally telometrase activity has to be put in place for immortality probably thru EBV transfection.
