Perhaps: This has not been well documented, but a consequence of testosterone therapy is a physiologic erythrocytosis (often mistaken for polycythemia). This increase in Hgb & Hct can confuse the bone marrow into reducing it's reticulocyte count. The medical literature is unclear of this result or it's consequences.
