A member asked:

Hoping you can tell me, is hep b test standard procedure when you are checked after having been sexually assaulted?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: In us it is recommended that hepatitis serology test for hepb surface antigen, core antigen, antibody to hepb cor antigen, hepb early antigen, and antibodies to hepb surface antigen. The chances of contacting hepb from one time sex assault is 1%.If the hepb tests are negative it is recommended that hepb vaccine in three doses should be given, first dose given and other two doses within next 6 months.
