Depends on equipment: How to take a pulse depends on the equipment and the technique: whether it is your ear to the chest wall, your fingers to a pulse point, or a piece of medical equipment. The most accurate pulse taken without machinery is the one closest to the heart, or the place where the pulse is best felt or heard. For accuracy, the pulse should be checked for at least 15 seconds in a row, purists say 60 secs

Radial pulse.: Feel for the radial pulse in your wrist (feel with fingertips as they’re more sensitive than other parts of your fingers). Pulse is located on the outer part of the wrist when your palm is facing the ceiling. Once you feel the pulse, count the number of beats in 15 seconds and multiply by four. Or in 30 seconds and multiply by two. Or just count them all in 60 seconds.
