Can decrease them: Dengue Virus can prevent a human body from making new platelets. Platelets usually last about four days & then are replaced by the body. But wi Dengue the platelets aren't replaced & so the Platelet count can drop. A normal platelet count is about 1.5 to 4 lakhs/cu mm. Platelet count below 1 Lakh needs medical intervention.
