Does 178 blood sugar mean you are diabetic ?

Possibly: It depends on whether it was done fasting or after eating. A fasting glucose above 125 mg/dl is indicative of diabetes. A post prandial level above 200 mg/dl is also considered diabetic. You should check with your doctor and consider getting a hemoglobin A1c level.
