A member asked:

Echocardiogram shows indexed left atrium volume is 10.6 cc/m2. normal is apparently 16-28. what is the significance of this?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Normal but re-check.: Congratulate yourself .... you have a normal left atrial volume. At 56 yrs of age ... presumably I would not expect to detect mitral valve disease, hypertension, or changes in your left ventricle. On the other hand .... the value is so small ... I would go back to the Echo personnel .... and verify the volume. Some rare conditions ... e.g.Addison's disease are associated with small volumes.
